Blackberry Bold 9700 - My New Little Friend

I lost my old fat Bold phone a while ago and got it replaced with the new Blackberry Bold 9700. Wow - what an improvement...The best thing is the size, it's as small as a 3G phone can get, compared to the bulky iphone or the old Bold, it's tiny and fits in the pocket with ease.

Other reviews have mentioned the tech side, so I wont rant about those, but a real neat feature is it's size, and for such a small phone, it packs some punch. I can use the video and the cam to take real quality pics, the best I've seen on a Berry and the supplied hands free is a big improvement on the old big Bold. Downloading vids from the net seems a lot more smooth compared to the old Bold and did I mention the size?

 

iPhone Killer

Yes, the iPhone is an absolute multi-media legend egg-Wollmilchsau, but it has its weaknesses, such as:

- Battery life
- Touch Keyboard
- Price (unlocked without a giant pink-branding)

Sometime after I had the 2G and 3G version once go for something new and "swapped" to a BlackBerry Bold 9000 and since then I fell in love RIM.

The BlackBerry push service is affordable as an addition to the existing pack Flat data and made possible by the incredible long battery life of a BlackBerry. Are other devices with "pseudo-push" always-on as the Palm Pre, the HTC Hero, etc., you realize this at the latest already at work for lunch at an empty battery. Sorry, but charging cable lug has never been as mine. One day as "24 hours" should already be able to withstand a device. In the iPhone I was disturbed that the push was in place on MobileMe, but as I said not so bad the battery life and keyboard dolle for writing is.

So, and now to the actual review on the new Blackberry Bold 9700:

Processing:

- Very high
- No wobbles, creaks, etc. (and mine is also from Hungary * g *)
- Device looks noble
- It has the look of a "Mr. handbag" like the 9000s finally lost

Display:

- Crisp
- Perfect display of photos, videos, etc.
- Display is slightly smaller than its predecessor, but it gets the user the perfect and convenient form of the Blackberry Bold 9700

Camera:

- Good for snapshots
- Added value to its predecessor, thanks to auto focus and a higher megapixel number
- As I said, snapshot camera for Facebook and Co.

Mobile browsing

- Okay, here are Pre, iPhone and forward Hero
- But the browser is now much faster
- Faster, thanks to HSDPA and Wi-Fi Page

Edge:

- I would go there on it, since so many write the opposite: IT HAS EDGE

Keyboard:

- Very good to use with normal hands
- Alas, still no Ä Ö Ü direct Buttons
- Touch Panel def. better than a trackball

BlackBerry basic functions:

- As with previous models 1A
- What can one tell you great??

PC Connection:

- Perfect for the Mac / Windows

Memory:

- Connection to 16 GB MicroSD do just fine

Battery:

- With above-average use (phone calls, e-mail, SMS, social networking) you have at the end of the day, yet 80% maturity

Synchronization:

- Even with very user GoogleSync with direct push support for calendars and contacts

Apps:

- App Store has moderately
- Very many apps directly from manufacturers, such as Facebook, Twitter Berry, Nimbuzz
- Push-integrating Facebook, Twitter and Nimbuzz (other social networking services are also supported)
- Push-integration allows for long battery life

Price:

- More affordable than
- No adhesion contract

Conclusion:

I am very happy with my new BB. This RIM has shown that the slip Curve 8520 (see my review) was really just a blip in the future and we continue to expect top devices from this manufacturer. Toll would be an even better browser tailed for the future.
